Italian familism is a direct consequence of the institutional degradation

Behind the strength of Italian familism there is the weakness of the state, no credible and authoritative at all. It is a defensive reaction, when the state is weak, family solidarity is strengthened.
To better understand from what high sense of the state our civilization started, I like to remember one of the first consuls of the great Rome, Lucio Giunio Bruto. Lucio condemned his children to death for violating the laws of Rome and, to give an even stronger signal, he personally witnessed their execution. Where did we start from and where we arrive today.
